Kristie is a spacious 65 foot cruiser stern narrow boat that was built in 1981 by Colecraft, a top British boat builder that is still making quality boats today. She was fully overplated in 2019.
She is powered by a BMC 1.8 Leyland engine that has been professionally serviced every 6 months and never failed to start in the past 5 years, cruising from the midlands to London where she has been cc’ing since then.
Kristie began her life as a hire boat in the Lower Heyford, Oxfordshire. After 3 years of service, she was bought by Pete, a man who drove a tug boat for work and lived on Kristie for 18 years!
She was then sold to Tim and Annie, a couple who ran the tea rooms at Thrupp and lived aboard Kristie for 4 years.
Then another Pete (a marine engineer) bought her and lived onboard for 9 years, first in Lower Heyford and then in Jerrico.
Another marine engineer (and Pete’s friend and colleague) called Ian bought Kristie in 2015 and lived onboard with his wife Dawn until 2018, when they were able to invest in a wide beam.
I bought Kristie off of Ian and Dawn in 2018 and cruised her from the east midlands to London, where I have lived onboard since then with my partner.
My partner and I had envisioned staying onboard Kristie for far longer, but times change and we are now expecting a baby. We have decided that moving home to Wales for the free family child care is probably a wise decision.
This boat is ready to be used as a liveaboard or weekend getaway and viewing is welcome by serious buyers.
