For Sale: 1924 Dutch Barge

This beautiful 1924 Dutch barge is now available for sale. Measuring 48 feet in length and just under 10 feet in width, it has served as a main residence for the past year. The owners are saddened to part ways with it, but due to circumstances, they find themselves back on land.

The interior features an open-plan living and sleeping area, along with a small galley kitchen and a separate bathroom with shower facilities. We have the original logbook and other documents, which can be provided upon request.

The living space is comprised of built-in sofas that also double as single beds, comfortably accommodating up to 4 people on board. However, we have had 6 people on board at times, thanks to the additional hammock space. When we resided on the barge, there was also a king-size bed on board.

Keeping the boat warm on colder days is a beautiful large log burner. The kitchen is equipped with a built-in cooker, a fridge with some cupboard space, and a functional sink. The bathroom features a shower in a wine barrel, a built-in sink, and also houses the hot water heater. Currently, there is a chemical toilet on board.

At the rear of the boat, there is additional separate space with a full canopy. Here, you’ll find steps leading down to the engine room, and it also provides access to the main part of the barge. The rear section currently houses a freezer, which can be either included or removed upon sale.

The interior has recently been freshly repainted. The boat is equipped with 3 bilge pumps.

This beautiful barge has a rich history, having originally served as a grain barge before being commandeered as a tug boat during the war.

Currently moored at Bath Marina, the possibility of including the mooring in the sale can be discussed, but it will require a conversation with the marina. When we purchased the boat, it was already attached to a mooring, so it might be possible to arrange a similar arrangement.

The boat has a valid boat safety certificate until 2025.
