In same ownership for 24 years, The Blue Lady is a well loved and looked-after family narrow boat, measuring 70ft x 6ft 9”. She was built in 1993 by Mike Heywood, a high quality boat builder, with rolled hand grips along the roof and enclosed bow edges. There are four small windows to the main cabin, plus portholes, bulls eye lights, a Houdini hatch, a pigeon hatch, and two side doors, making it a well lit space with excellent security.
The engine is a water-cooled 1.5 BMC, in excellence mechanical condition. It has been maintained by Stephen Strickland, last engine service November 2022, with a fuel polish of the tank carried out November 2020. Last bottom black was October 2020 at P&S Marine, including a hull survey with no reported defects or pitting concerns (buyer to undertake own survey). The prop shaft has a stainless steel prop cutter fitted. The hull steel is 10/6/4. In 2012, a 10 ft extension was completed to the bow in 10/8/4mm steel. The multi-fuel stove, an ACR Brichdale fitted by Ship Shape Stove Services in 2019, is mounted on quarry tiles, with hand-made tile surround. 24” external double-lined flue. There are four lead acid 110 amp hour batteries, three domestics and one service battery, all four year old. The engine has a Adverc unit for fast battery charging and a carlorifier hot water tank off the engine head. The inverter & battery charger is a one-unit Master Volt Combimaster 230V series, installed April 2022. Hot water is either via the carlorifier or the gas run through water heater a Morso D-51B.
There is a 1200mm bath with shower and Therford toilet with three cassettes. Fridge is a 12 volt LEC larder fridge new in October 2021, there is also a mini 240v freezer. The cooker is 4 ring hob with single oven and grill, LPG gas, installed new in February 2023. The gas locker in the bow has room for three full gas bottles, two 11kg flogas are sold with the boat. Water tank to the bow is approx 450 litres with fuel tank approx 150 litres. Open bow area 1.57m plus gas locker, new basic bow cover on order.
Accommodation from stern to bow: double bed, cot room L1.4m, bathroom, kitchen, living room/ dinette, converts to bed 1.9m x 1.9m, stove area drying coats, small bedroom L1.6m with a high level bunk, narrow single bed L1.9m. Internal ceiling height 1.96m The fit out is completed to maximise storage. Fit out completed in 2012. The outside paint needs some work, particularly at the bow, the inside needs repainting.
The BSS certificate was renewed in June 2023, valid until June 2027.
The boat is moored in Kingsland Basin London N1, where booked viewings can take place. Please note that the mooring is NOT included, the boat will need to leave the basin immediately on being sold.
